Blog assignment #2

The film "All the President's Men," directed by Alan J. Pakula, was based on the the Watergate scandal that occurred in the U.S. during the 1970's. It presented American journalism at it's best. It uncovered stories that were hidden from the public eye, and resurfaced the ones that had been buried. The story line is about two Washington Post reporters , Carl and Rob. The two are given the opportunity to investigate what will come to be known one of the most confidential cover ups of their time, under the presidency of Nixon.
Watching this movie revealed to me the extinct politics will go through to withhold the truth from the people. The dedication and  dangers that the two reporters exposed themselves to were commendable in various levels. The dangers of landing a top secret government story is difficult for one to obtain;but, Carl and Rob led the story to a successful breakthrough.
It helped me realize that even though you may collect bits and pieces to a story, you still got nothing. To release stories you need to get confirmation from the people involved or in charge of the situation. Dealing with the people who hold all the confidential information can be the up most difficult task for stories to become complete and printed, but a good reporter will challenge that at anytime and make it possible.
